Sixteen years ago, I stepped into the world of surface pattern design with one dream in mind: to create something that could live in people’s homes for generations, to design patterns that bring beauty into everyday life.Â
This dream was born in the back of my mom’s quilt shop, tucked in the mountains of North Carolina. I had no formal training, industry connections, or understanding of surface pattern design. But I committed to doing one thing a day to move closer to my goal. Â
Today, I license my artwork around the world, and I’ve built a lifestyle brand that inspires hundreds of thousands of creatives to pursue their own creative dreams.
As an artist, my work is grounded in hand-drawn charm and heirloom quality. Every pattern carries a personal connection to my home, inspired by my garden and family, and speaks to those who long for a slower, more intentional way of living.
Alongside my work as a designer, I lead a heart-centered brand built around education, encouragement, and creative collaboration. I’ve grown a community of over 225,000 email subscribers, taught over 190,000 students, and reached over 1 million podcast listeners through The Professional Creative.
I also founded Flowerie, a lifestyle product line, and Pattern Magazine, a publication celebrating the wonder of surface design and the artists behind it.Â
At the heart of it all is a single mission: to create art that makes people feel something, and to bring story to the products they hold in their hands.
